1. Anne-Sophie Lapix<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Well-known to millions of French<\/strong> people, Anne-Sophie Lapix was born on April 29, 1972 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz,<\/strong> in the Basque country<\/strong>. Although she left the Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Atlantiques<\/strong> a long time ago, the France 2 8 p.m. news presenter is still very attached to her Basque roots, and regularly takes part in local cultural events, such as the Festival Classic in Gu\u00e9thary. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

2. Philippe Etchebest<\/h2>\n\n

Philippe Etchebest is a French chef born in 1966 in Soissons, Aisne (02). But his father, also a restaurateur, is Basque, as his name suggests (Etchebest means the other house: etxe = house, beste = other). 3. Didier Deschamps<\/h2>\n\n

Do we still need to introduce him? With Les Bleus, he won the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Championship. Didier Deschamps, 16 years in the game, one of the greatest achievements in French sport. Born in Bayonne<\/a> on October 15, 1968, the young Didier Deschamps spent his youth in Anglet. He was initially attracted to rugby and Basque pelota. But his body was too short, and he turned to soccer with the Aviron Bayonnais. With his charisma and talent, he quickly became one of the most emblematic players in French rugby. He is also the head of a clothing brand. <\/p>\n\n

6. Jean-Michel Aphatie<\/h2>\n\n

Some accents are unmistakable! On RTL and Canal +, journalist Jean-Michel Aphatie has retained the intonations of his native Basque country<\/strong>, where he was born on September 8, 1958. His parents ran a caf\u00e9-grocery in Viodos, a small Basque town of 500 inhabitants. The outspoken political columnist is now considered one of France<\/strong>‘s finest interviewers. <\/p>\n\n

8. Ma\u00eftena Biraben<\/h2>\n\n

Ma\u00eftena Biraben grew up in the Landes region<\/strong>, but her father, a native of Saint-Jean-de-Luz,<\/strong> gave her a Basque first name (Ma\u00eftena means “loved” in Basque).
