Château d’Urtubie, built in 1341 on the orders of King Edward III of England to control the route to Spain, bears witness to six centuries of Basque history. Over the years, the d’Urtubie family took on increasingly important positions.
Château d’Urtubie offers an authentic experience of French art de vivre through its elegant and refined interiors. Located just 3 kilometers from Saint-Jean-de-Luz and 9 kilometers from Spain, it enjoys a privileged position. As well as visiting the interiors, visitors can stroll through the English park and explore historic features such as the 17th-century chapel, the 18th-century orangery and the 19th-century herbalist’s office.
