The Château Fort de Mauléon, located in the charming commune of Mauléon-Licharre, is an emblematic testimony to the region’s medieval history. Built in the 11th century, this castle dominates the Luy valley, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. With its imposing walls and towers, it invites visitors to plunge into the past and explore its many legends.
Strolling along its ramparts, towers and inner courtyards, visitors are immersed in the atmosphere of the heyday of feudalism. A place steeped in history, it has been a military stronghold, a prison and now a heritage site open to visitors. Numerous interpretive panels line the route, recounting the milestones in its history.
From the top of the ramparts, the 360° panorama of Soule and the surrounding mountains is spectacular. On a clear day, the peaks of the Pyrenees are revealed, providing a striking backdrop.
The château offers guided and self-guided tours, with opening times adapted to each season. Numerous cultural and medieval events punctuate the year, to the delight of young and old alike.

- From April 1ᵉʳ to September 30: open daily from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
- From October 1ᵉʳ to March 31: open at weekends and during school vacations, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

- Reduced rate: 3 € for young people aged 12 to 18, students and people with disabilities.
Accessibility
The Château Fort de Mauléon strives to be accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM). Some parts of the site may be difficult to access due to the medieval architecture, but every effort has been made to accommodate visitors. It is advisable to contact the château in advance to obtain precise information on the accessibility of different areas.
